Cirrus is making the next major change on the pricing landscape. Its announced changes will be hitting later this month, targeted at ATM owners whose acquiring volume is less than their issuing volume. The most affected? Obviously the ISO ATM deployers.
How much is will this hit them? According to Tremont Capital Group, a Boston-based consulting firm hired by the ATM Industry Association, between $19.7 million and $25.6 million annually. We all know that ATM deployers have not been fairing well anyway. Now this?
Some are arguing that the consumers will pay for this shift. To some extent, this will happen. But because of the often complex deals in place with retailers, increasing the surcharge amount may not directly offset the decrease in Interchange. Obviously, we will be hearing much about this in the next few months.
